violent lips

(Me wearing violent lips on the 4th of july!)

Last month at IMATS, I was introduced to a brand new product called Violent Lips ($15 for 3). Immediately I wanted to kick myself and yell "Why didn't I think of that!?". Make-up artists have been doing crazy designs on lips for decades, and this is really just a much faster, amateur friendly way to have some fun on your own lips! Violent Lips is exactly what it looks like: a press-on temporary tattoo for the lips. It is applied almost exactly like those temporary tattoos we used to play with as kids: peel, stick, wet, done.

(Believe it or not, Violent Lips was started by this 14-year old beauty! )

Pros: They last 4-8 hours and I felt completely comfortable eating and drinking without worrying that I was going to mess up the tattoo. Even when it came time to take off my make-up, I REALLY had to give my mouth a good scrub to get these to come off. So A+ for the lasting power!

Cons: It is HARD to put these bad boys on! Luckily, there are 3 tattoos per pack, and it took me all three tries to start getting the hang of it. I found it difficult to put a flat product on a curved surface and even with the guide on the back, I still had a hard time getting the right size happening. Also, I felt really silly going out in public with these on! I can't imagine wearing these any other time than Halloween, unless of course, I was Lady Gaga.

Find out more and watch tutorials at Violent Lips.
Or see Kandee Johnson try out the same design at her blog!

product of the day

I've been using Nailtiques for years and it is a product I strongly believe in. Similar to, but better than Sally Hanson's "Hard As Nails", it is designed to make your nails strong and durable so that they grow longer without breaking or peeling. There are several different formulas and I recommend formula 2 for everyone. You put one coat on everyday, it dries immediately, and you'll notice healthier nails in about two weeks. It's a little pricey, $10 for a small bottle and $20 for a regular sized bottle...but trust me, it is so worth it! Think of it as Latisse (eyelash lengthener) but for your nails. Your natural nails will look like acrylics when used every day.

I get mine at CVS but it can also be found at any beauty supply store or off their website.

Happy Summer Solstice!

Wedding Make-Up!

My best friend (and absolutely the SWEETEST girl I've ever met) Tiffany just got married last Saturday! Her wedding was on a yacht in Newport Beach and I had the pleasure of doing the bridesmaids make-up. I'm super duper excited because the make-up turned out looking gorgeous (easy when her sisters have bright blue eyes and perfect skin!) and the photographer took some photos of me working on the girls, which will be fun to have. I'll post more photos later! :)

Coming soon-- I'm going to post pictures of some of my mom's vintage dresses from the 70's that she saved for me and also pictures of a few things I bought at the fashion district downtown last week!

Getting Nailed

I've been loving getting creative with my nails lately :) On top, I used Milani nail polishes and on bottom, I mixed my sister's green nail polish with white and black to create an ombre effect. Fun!
